Healthy People 2020 Objectives Now Available for Review and Public Comment

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has posted the proposed Healthy People 2020 objectives online. Objectives for all focus areas can be accessed at: http://www.healthypeople.gov/. The proposed Family Planning objectives can be accessed directly at: http://www.healthypeople.gov/hp2020/Objectives/TopicArea.aspx?id=21&TopicArea=Family%20Planning.
HHS is seeking public input from communities across the country on the proposed Healthy People 2020 objectives and will be accepting public comments about the proposed objectives online beginning October 30, 2009 and continuing through December 2009. Dr. Diana Schneider has joined OPA as the new Director of the Office of Research and Evaluation (ORE).

Dr. Diana Schneider has joined OPA as the new Director of the Office of Research and Evaluation (ORE). She is responsible for oversight of research and evaluation activities supported by the Title X Family Planning program and the Title XX Adolescent Family Life program and related special initiatives. Dr. Schneider has twenty years of experience in the field of public health, the last twelve of which have been with the federal government. Dr. Schneider received her Doctorate of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and her Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service.
